The following committees will be simulated in the fourth edition of VHS MUN:

 

1) UNITED NATIONS GENERAL ASSEMBLY:­

The Disarmament and International Security

Committee: The General Assembly (GA) is the main deliberative, policymaking and

representative organ of the UN. It is made up of six different committees, one of which is the

Disarmament and International Security (DISEC) committee. UNGA DISEC deals with

disarmament, global challenges and threats to peace that affect the international community and

seeks out solutions to the challenges in the international security regime.

 

2) UNITED NATIONS HUMAN RIGHTS COUNCIL:

The Human Rights Council is an inter-governmental body

within the United Nations system which is made up of 47 States. It is

responsible for the promotion and protection of all human rights around the globe and for

addressing situations of human rights violations and making recommendations on them. It also

has the ability to discuss all thematic human rights issues and situations that require its attention

throughout the year.

 

3) UNITED NATIONS SECURITY COUNCIL:

Under the UN Charter, the Security Council has

primary responsibility for the maintenance of international peace and security. This committee

takes the lead in determining the existence of a threat to the peace or act of aggression. It calls

upon the parties to a dispute to settle it by peaceful means and recommends methods of

adjustment or terms of settlement.

 

4) ORGANISATION OF ISLAMIC COOPERATION:

The Organisation of Islamic Cooperation

(OIC)is the second largest intergovernmental organisation after the United Nations which has

membership of 57 states spread over four continents. It is the collective voice of the Muslim world

and ensuring to safeguard and protect the interests of the Muslim world in the spirit of promoting

international peace and harmony among various people of the world.

 

5) ALL INDIA POLITICAL PARTIES MEET:

All India Political Parties Meet is a committee ofrepresentatives from around India.

It is created as a supplementary body to the parliament as aforum for unrestricted

political debate and deliberation. AIPPM is not a binding committee and is

thus free from the legislative functions of the parliament, providing a stage where critical and

elaborate issues of national importance can be discussed.

 

6) UNITED NATIONS COMMISSION ON STATUS OF WOMEN:

The Commission on the Statusof Women (CSW) is the

principal global intergovernmental body exclusively dedicated to the

promotion of gender equality and the empowerment of women. The CSW is instrumental in

promoting women’s rights, documenting the reality of women’s lives throughout the world, and

shaping global standards on gender equality and the empowerment of women.
